So when we say \u201chuman evolution,\u201d we\u2019re talking about how humans have slowly changed and developed over millions of years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We didn\u2019t just appear the way we are now. Our bodies, brains, and behaviours slowly changed. They inhabited parts of sub-Saharan Africa and were one of the first humans known to make simple tools, such as those with sharp stone, to cut meat or crack nuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next came the&nbsp; Homo Erectus, around 1.8 million years ago. These early humans were even better at walking upright and were the first to use fire. Fire gave them warmth, light, and the ability to cook food. Importantly, fire also offered safety as it kept wild animals away!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Spreading_Around_the_World\"><\/span>Spreading Around the World<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Over time early humans began migrating to other parts of the world, such as Europe and Asia. As they travelled, they faced new climates and challenges, which made them resistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most well-known ancient humans is <strong>Neanderthal Man<\/strong> (scientists call them <em>Homo neanderthalensis<\/em>). They lived in caves in Europe and were great hunters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Arrival_of_Modern_Humans\"><\/span>The Arrival of Modern Humans<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Modern humans, such as the ones that inhabit the earth now, can be traced to about 300,000 years ago. They were called <strong>Homo sapiens<\/strong>. These humans had:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bigger brains<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Smarter thinking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Better language and communication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creative minds\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>They started to paint on cave walls, build homes, and create tools from bones and stones. This is when they started to grow their own food.
